What We Stand For

Eight priorities for the 2027 NSW State Election.

Doing Density Better believes density done well can improve community amenity while also addressing climate change and social and intergenerational equity. These eight priorities are what we are demanding from the NSW Government and all candidates ahead of the 2027 State Election.

01

Plan Density Well

Recognise the need for well-planned additional density and more affordable housing across Sydney for social and environmental benefits.

02

Prioritise Infrastructure

Density must be linked to parks, schools, trees, hospitals and public transport. Infrastructure comes first — not as an afterthought.

03

Prevent Net Housing Loss

No development should reduce dwelling numbers or affordability, nor replace studios and one-bedroom units with larger luxury apartments.

04

Deliver Affordable Housing

Affordable housing must be genuinely affordable and permanent — not provisions that expire after 15 years and revert to the private market.

05

Enhance Liveability & Sustainability

Protect local amenity and character. Encourage renovation and adaptive re-use over demolition.

06

Protect Environment & Heritage

Conserve built heritage, tree canopy, biodiversity and the natural environment when increasing diversity.

07

Suspend LMR

Suspend Low and Mid-Rise rezoning to allow communities and councils to work towards density that benefits everyone.

08

Stop SSD for Apartments

Residential apartments must not proceed through the State Significant Development pathway. Restore local consent authority.
